Adam HalesworthOne of our Purple Belt students Ben Clarke has moved to Japan and will be missed in the club. Ben is teaching English in Japan for a while and is also no doubt looking for some good traditional martial arts schools to train in. Very best of luck Ben!

Once again we were very fortunate to have Sensei Grant (4th Dan Ju Jitsu), come to our club and teach some excellent new self defence techniques. The techniques this time included new warm up drills including using belts, techniques for knife defence, wallet and suntetsu. The session was high energy, fast paced and packed with fun and learning. We look forward to the Sensei's returning visit in October! We also look forward to Norfolk Banzai. Watch this space :-)

On 21st April Sensei Jason Warren was very fortunate to be invited to a private seminar with Chris Crudelli organised by Sensei Grant Wakeham - North Kent Ju Jitsu. Chris is a very accomplished martial artist and famous for his TV shows 'Mind Body and Kick Ass moves' and Kick Ass' miracles. The excellent seminar certainly lived up to expectations with most of us leaving with bruises, bite marks and an elephant neck!

To end the year we had our Christmas meal at Roccos in Norwich. An enjoyable event, ending another good year for NJJC.

On December 2nd we had the return visit of our Taekwondo exchange. Ian Soame, 5th Dan Taekwondo, came along with assisting students. This session focussed on specific kicks with detailed instruction and many useful drills. The result as always was a a very enjoyable session with many days of aching thighs! Photos from the session below.

Yates On 24th October 6 members (Jason, Ben, John, Carl, Vanessa and Jeremy) of the NJJC attended the yearly Jikishin National course and competition. The instructors on the morning course demonstrated a wide variety of techniques from Chinese Boxing, MMA and the more traditional Ju Jitsu. As always the course was fast paced and thoroughly enjoyable!

The afternoons competitions resulted in NJJC students achieving the following
excellent results -
Carl Purkiss - Gold ground fighting
Vanessa English - Gold groundfighting, silver sparring
Ben Clarke - 1/4 finals ground fighting
John Calderwood - 1/4 finals ground fighting
Watch NJJC facebook group for the videos of Carl choking out an opponent and
vanessa winning her groundwork fight.
On 28th September 5 members (Jason, Adrian, Carl, Ben and John) of the NJJC attended an excellent Mixed Martial Arts training session with top MMA fighter, and now promoter and MMA trainer Dan Burzotta. Dan also brought along 2 of his current top MMA fighters Stav 'Crazy Bear' Economou and Lee Weiczorek. It was a full 3 hours of MMA techniques both technical and painful ! See pictures below from the course and for more information on the Ultimate Warrior Challenge click the poster below.

And a final picture of our favourite technique!

Shihan Martin Rogers is one of the best known and highly respected teachers in the Martial Arts world today. He is in constant demand to teach seminars in Canada, America, across Europe and around the globe. In August Jason Warren and Genevieve Froehlich had the opportunity to to attend the Art Of Advanced Pressure Point Fighting Training Course. The course covered Kuatsu (To Restore Life) Energy Revival techniques, 5 Element Chi Gung, (Energy cultivation,) Energy Retardation & Enhancement, Kata Bunkai, (Break down of Kata Movements & what they mean,) PP Ko's, 5 Element Theory. A fascinating and enlightening course on how the Acupuncture Science applies to our Art of Jujitsu.
